Review the written terms
Understand the services, duration, fees and any exclusivity before signing. Ask for explanations of unfamiliar language and consult your attorney about legal terms. Keep a copy of the agreement and any changes.
Ask for the basis of advice
A pricing recommendation should identify relevant evidence and its limitations. When an answer is uncertain, ask who can verify it. Distinguish an agent’s opinion from an inspection finding, municipal record or lender decision.
Discuss referrals and communication
Ask about relationships connected with recommended providers and whether you may select alternatives. Agree on how concerns and disagreements will be addressed. References can provide another perspective, but they are not a guarantee of your result.
