Setting a Communication Plan With Your Real Estate Agent

Published by NestEdge Realty. This is a practical guide, not an independent agent ranking or a guarantee of results.

A communication plan makes expectations explicit. Decide how you want to receive routine updates, which situations require a call and who can help when the primary contact is unavailable.

Choose channels and coverage

Identify your preferred phone number or email, usual availability and a backup contact. Ask about response expectations during evenings and weekends. Avoid assuming that every message will receive an immediate reply.

Make updates actionable

A helpful update states what changed, what remains open, who is responsible and the next deadline. During a search, that might be showing availability or a missing property document. During a sale, it might be feedback and a decision about presentation.

Plan for urgent decisions

Agree on how an offer deadline or time-sensitive question will be flagged. Ask for important recommendations and decisions in writing. Use the appropriate secure channel for financial documents rather than including them in a broad group conversation.

Review the plan when the transaction moves from search or marketing to contract, because the people and deadlines may change.

Plan your next step

Discuss your priorities with Matthew Gluck and agree on the scope of representation, communication and fees in writing.
